The Policy, Planning and Research Division of DepEd Region 1 leads the online oral defense via MS Teams for FY 2020 Basic Education Research Fund (BERF) on May 29-June 1, 2020. To ensure timely and relevant research studies, the Department anchors all regional researches to the new normal in response to the call of the pressing situation brought about by Covid-19 pandemic.
The research studies submitted to the regional office come from the 14 schools division offices and the regional office personnel. Prior to the conduct of oral defense, a preliminary evaluation of the researches is done and come up with a shortlist for oral presentation. After thorough online evaluation and deliberation, researches are selected which are all aligned to the new normal as dictated by the pandemic situation. Online orientation of FY 2020 BERF recipients is held on June 30, 2020. Part of theorientation is the information on the research process, the needed deliverables and the contents of the Memorandum of Agreement. Online technical assistance is also provided by the regional research evaluators. To walk them through the process, the recipients shall be given
coaching and mentoring for the entire duration of the research.
