Jarwin Escalona | Published: June 06, 2026

Enhancing the Resistor Color Coding and Decoding of the Electronics Students through Demonstration Method with the Aid of Electrodoc Application

Elvis Aguillana | Published: June 06, 2026

Abstract: Educational technology plays a vital role in an effective teaching and learning process. In the field of information and communications technology, it creates digital literacy and knowledge-building among learners enabled them to learn effectively. In today’s era, students are more techno-savvy and are ready to search for and learn most things through the internet (Sewarkar, 2014). This action research study aims to integrate ICT in the learning setting. The researcher found out that the least mastered competency of the Grade 12 electronics students is measurement and calculation, which include resistor color coding and decoding. So, to address the problem, the researcher used an intervention, which is the demonstration method, with the aid of the electrodoc application. The researcher administered a pre- and post- performance test in gathering the data. The mean was used to determine the level of performance of the grade 12 electronics students before and after the electrodoc application was utilized. The results of this study shows that the intervention conducted by the researcher is effective. From their pre test and post test performance, it indicates that from a composite mean of 6.05, which is equivalent to a “below average," on their pre test performance test, it improved to a 90.5 mean for an "excellent" post test performance. Since the computed t-value of 7.31 is greater than the critical value of ± 1.729 at the level of significance with 19 degrees of freedom, the null hypothesis is rejected. Hence, there is a significant difference in the results of the pre-test and post-test of the Grade 12 electronics students. The results of this study benefited teachers, learners, school administrations, and other stakeholders by encouraging them to use this intervention in their teaching and learning processes. The electronics teachers, technical-vocational teachers, and physical science teachers can use this intervention in their classes, especially when their topic is all about resistor color coding and decoding.
